When is the Ice Arena open?

We are open Monday to Friday 7.00am - 9.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 7.00am - 4.00pm (Please see timetable for specific sessions).

Do I need to book?

No booking is required, just turn up to the session and get your skates on! Session times can be found on the Ice Timetable.

Do I need any equipment?

Only a pair of skates – but you can hire them if you haven’t got your own. Our skates range from baby size 5 up to adult size 14. We also have twin blade “bob skates” available for those not big enough to fit junior size 5.

How long are public skate sessions?

Our sessions are a minimum of 1 hour and 15 minutes long – actual duration depends on the type of session and demand.

What do I need to wear?

It’s chilly so we advise you wear a couple of layers. Make sure you are comfortable and covered up.
We also recommend gloves and a spare pair of socks for comfort.

Where can I leave my belongings?

We have a number of free lockers in the Ice Arena – £1.00 coin/trolley token operated (coin/token returnable).

How old do I need to be?

Ice skating is perfect for any age. It’s great for tiny tots or speed skating grannies! Don’t forget, under 3’s skate for free and we have Penguin Club sessions for children aged 18 months up to 4 years old to help build confidence and co-ordination.

What if I can’t skate?

Don’t worry most people who visit us have never been ice skating before and learning is half the fun! We have friendly staff on hand to make sure you’re safe and we have penguin and snowmen stability aids available for hire.

However, if you wanted some extra tuition, we offer Learn to Skate courses for all ages and abilities as well as Private Lessons with our resident Ice Coaches.

Can I ice skate if I have a disability?

There is a dedicated weekly SNAPS/Disability skating session for disabled users and their families which takes place every Friday 9.30am–10.30am. However, disabled users are not restricted to this session alone. The Ice Arena is accessible by wheelchair if necessary, and our friendly staff are on hand to help if needed.

What refreshments are available?

We have OJ’s Café in the Atrium which is open Monday to Sunday 8.30am - 5.00pm, plus 7.00pm -9.00pm every Friday. We also have a number of sweets, snacks and hot/cold drinks machines in the Ice Arena.

Do you do Birthday Parties?

Yes – only the coolest parties in town! Head over to the groups and parties page to find out everything you need to know.

Can I hire the Ice Arena?

The Ice Arena is available for hire for private parties and corporate events – please call 01642 551381 for more details.

Do you do any special activities?

We host a number of different events throughout the year; including Avalanche Foam Parties and Full Moon UV Parties amongst many seasonal events. Check the events page and keep up to date with what’s happening on social media.

Do you host Ice Hockey Matches?

The Ice Arena is the home of Billingham Ice Hockey Club – who have several teams in the Northern Section of the English National Ice Hockey League – including the Billingham Stars.
We are also the home of Cleveland Comets – the North East’s most prominent recreational ice hockey team.

I enjoyed watching the Ice Hockey – how do I get involved?

Billingham Forum Ice Hockey School holds sessions every Sunday 4.15pm – 5.30pm. If you are under 15 years of age and have basic skating skills, the Billingham Ice Hockey Club coaches will help develop you in the skills of the game – all you need to do is turn up.
