YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

We’ve loved receiving all of your positive comments on social media and know there are a lot of questions surrounding our reopening. We have created an extensive list of  FAQs which can be found at the bottom of the page which should answer any of the questions you have about returning to the ice.

WHAT’S CHANGED?

Here at Forum Ice Arena our customer’s and staff’s safety is of paramount importance to us. In order to ensure everyone’s safety, we have created and are implementing a number of new policies and procedures which all visitors will need to adhere to. You can find these in the FAQ’s below. The usual ice timetable has been amended for the time being and we are only offering public skating sessions and ice lessons at the moment. We will continually assess the situation and release more of our regular programming as soon as it is deemed safe to do so. Please keep an eye on our social media for information as it’s released.

We have created and implemented a new online booking platform that all visitors must use to book their ice sessions before they arrive at the venue. Booking is now available. See information below.

How do I book? All visitors will be required to register in order to book their sessions. Register here now or see the FAQ’s below for more information. If you are an existing Activ8 member, hold a Tees Active Leisure Card or Sk8 Saver Card please see the guidance below.

To make a booking please login to your account here and filter by location and find the session you would like to book. Adults can book for just themselves, one adult and one child or a family ice skate pass. Please carefully select your session as some include skate hire and for others you need to bring your own skates.

How are Forum Ice Arena protecting visitors and staff?

The safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have put an extensive range of protective measures in place. This includes – an increased cleaning regime, installing cleaning stations throughout the entire venue, displaying social distancing signage and the closure of all non-essential areas.

Whilst we have extensive measures in place to maintain the highest level of hygiene across our venue, we also have an expectation from our visitors to take responsibility for their own hygiene. Visitors are expected to wear face coverings within the Ice Arena, certain exemptions do apply. When entering the ice, face coverings can be removed so that they don't negatively impact on your ability to exercise. Visitors must sanitise their hands and make the most of the cleaning products available to support each other in maintaining a safe and clean environment.

What will the ice sessions be?

We are opening initially for Private Skating Lessons and Simply Skate sessions only.

The programme will be reduced initially – but we hope to gradually build the programme over a period of time, to hopefully return to normal operations, as and when national guidance permits.

Why have you introduced an online booking platform?

The safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority which is why we have introduced a new booking platform like many other leisure operators. The venue has a capacity to maintain a environment inline with social distancing guidelines, this helps us to control and assess the flow of visitors across the venue in the early stages of re-opening and will prevent unnecessary queuing.

If you are unable to attend a booked session you must cancel this in advance to free up space for others, otherwise a nominal fee will be charged.

You will need to register for the booking platform online to book all sessions for the time being.

I have an Activ8 membership or Tees Active Leisure Card, what do I do?

If you have an Activ8 membership or Tees Active Leisure Card you should have already signed up to the online booking platform and therefore do not need to register again.

If you have an Activ8 membership or Tees Active Leisure Card but have not yet signed up to our online booking platform, you will need to register as an existing member using the membership number on your card.

Do you need to be a member to book online?

Our online booking platform is open to everyone. If you have never held a membership with Tees Active or Activ8 you can simply sign up as a new member.

If you've ever had a membership with us, we may have your details on the system still. Please contact us at icearena@teesactive.co.uk and we'll help with this.

Can I pay at reception?

Initially, we won’t be taking pay per visit admissions on the day – we need to control access to the Ice Arena and restrict cash handling to ensure that we provide a safe service and environment for our customers.

I don't have access to the booking system, how can I book a session?

Please call and speak to our reception team on 01642 551381 so we can arrange alternative method of booking and payment.

What will the prices be for the sessions?

Prices for the sessions can be found on the online booking platform when you are booking a session, they came into effect on 01 April 2020.

If I pre-book my skate and I'm unable to attend, will I get a refund?

Sorry no – once a booking has been made and paid for refunds will not be available.

Can I apply my SK8 Saver card discounts?

Yes – and so will your Sk8 Saver card if you have one – so don’t worry, as long as your email address is up to date, you can use both cards to book your place and continue to make savings.

If you have difficulty making your booking, please email icearena@teesactive.co.uk with your name, Card number, correct phone number/the email address you want assigning to your membership card and we will look at this for you so you can start to make bookings soon.

Do I need any PPE to visit the Ice Arena?

Visitors are expected to wear face coverings within the Ice Arena, certain exemptions do apply. When entering the ice, face coverings can be removed so that they don't negatively impact on your ability to exercise. We recommend all visitors also wear gloves. You may want to bring a spare pair of socks with you to change into once you have been skating.

Don’t worry if you haven’t got any gloves or socks – these will be available from reception for a nominal fee.

Where can I leave my belongings when on the ice?

Lockers will be available for the storage of personal effects – these will be limited due to social distancing and sanitised after every use.

We ask all skaters to bring minimal personal belongings due to restricted number of lockers.

Can I spectate in the Ice Arena?

At present, we are not open for spectators. The Ice Arena is open for skating only.

How old do I need to be to skate?

Ice skating is perfect for any age. It’s great for tiny tots or speed skating grannies! Don’t forget, under 3’s skate for free.

Please note that all children under 16 years of age are to be accompanied by an adult.

The ratio for this is 1 paying adult: 3 children maximum

The paying adult is not allowed to spectate in the Ice Arena – they will need to physically participate in the activity.

What if I can't skate but want to come and try?

We have friendly stability penguins and snowmen available for hire for young ones to help them gain their confidence – we are extending their hire for the full duration of the session to minimise physical contact/contamination. These will be sanitised after every use, so they are clean and safe to use for the next person.

Will I be able to hire skates and how do I know they are they clean?

We strongly recommend if you have your own skates that you bring them. If not, we have ample pairs of skates ranging from baby size 5 up to adult size 14 – as well as twin bladed toboggans for toddlers. Skates will be sanitised before and after use to ensure we provide safe and hygienic equipment for you.

Can I skate in my wheelchair?

Yes – as long as you comply with our Covid-19 procedures for booking and entry.

Are private skating lessons on?

We are pleased to say that Private Skating Lessons are taking place in their own identified sessions, but they must be booked and paid for in advance.

All Private Lesson skaters are to arrive at the centre skate ready and bring minimal personal belongings which must be stored in a single bag – with blade guards on to walk through the centre.

To book your Private Lesson, speak to your coach to check their availability first and then book and pay by contacting Billingham Forum reception on 01642 551381.

Please note that once a booking has been made and paid for refunds will not be available.

If you want to book a Private Lesson and don’t have an Instructor, please email IceArena@teesactive.co.uk with your name and phone number, requesting an Ice Professional and we will pass your details on for one of our resident instructors to contact you.

Due to the current Covid-19 guidance and TAL’s controlled admissions policy there will be no spectators allowed during these sessions. Therefore, if you require assistance to change for your lesson, you will not be allowed entry at this present time.

Private Lessons may be booked and paid for at Reception – but we encourage payment by card as a preference to cash.

Please note there are no changing facilities available – you must come ready to skate.

How long will private lessons be?

Private Lessons will be booked in 45 minute periods. This is to allow the skater to arrive, warm up for their 30 minute lesson and leave in time for the next lesson booked. Please note once your lesson has finished you are to leave the centre immediately.

I haven’t been skating before or since you closed, what can I expect?

When you arrive for your pre-booked session you will sign in with one of the team before you are allowed to enter the centre. After sanitising your hands please maintain social distancing and make your way to the Ice Reception.

If you have your own skates, you will be guided into the Ice Arena by a member of the Reception Team – if you have blade guards, you can wear these on your skates as you move though the centre.

If you need to hire skates a member of staff at Ice Reception will give you a hygiene bag for your footwear after we have checked that you have paid for your skate hire. After this you will be guided to Skate Hire, where you will remove your footwear and place it in the hygiene bag and hand it to Skate Hire for a pair of skates.

You will not be given a hygiene bag unless you have paid to hire skates.

Will there be many on the ice with me?

We have reduced the capacity of skaters on the ice for all sessions for the safety of our customers and staff.

Are toilet and changing facilities available?

Unfortunately, there are no changing facilities available.

Limited toilet facilities will be available but only accessible in compliance with our Covid-19 procedures. The toilets will be regularly cleaned throughout the day in line with our Covi-19 procedures.

Can I use one email address to create all of my families accounts?

You will need to use a separate email address for each member of your family/SK8 Saver card.

I've not been since I was a kid, couldn't believe the transformation. Will be back soon!
