Stockton Care Home residents have been getting into the festive spirit as they visited Billingham Forum and were treated to a Christmas themed performance from ARCulele a group of local ukulele players who hold weekly ukulele sessions at Arc, Stockton.
After being serenaded by ARCulele next to Santas Grotto the residents moved into the Ice Arena where 4 members of Billingham Ice Skating Club performed several pieces from the Clubs Seasons on Ice production Seasons on Ice.
The residents in their wheelchairs with the help of their carers took to the ice and experienced the thrill of being on the ice. The day was completed with some refreshments and socialising in Cooks Café situated within the Forum.
Councillor Pauline Beall, Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said: “Residents on Ice is such a wonderful event which brings together people from across care homes in Stockton-on-Tees to have some festive fun. We know those who come along get real joy from being on the ice, watching the displays and enjoying a cuppa afterwards. It’s a highlight of the calendar. Thanks to Tees Active for their support in hosting this event.”
Allan McDermott, Tees Actives Community Engagement Manager said “The feedback from the residents has been brilliant, they have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Billingham Forum. This event would not have been possible without the fantastic support of Julie Nisbet, Transformation Manager from Stockton Council, ARCulele and the wonderful skaters from Billingham Ice Skating Club.”
