From Monday 19th July ice bookings no longer need to be made over the phone in advance. You can book and pay for your skate with our reception team at the start of the session.

How are Forum Ice Arena protecting visitors and staff?
The safety of our visitors and staff is our number one priority. We have put an extensive range of protective measures in place. This includes – an increased cleaning regime, installing cleaning stations throughout the entire venue, displaying social distancing signage, and the closure of all non-essential areas.
Whilst we have extensive measures in place to maintain the highest level of hygiene across our venue, we also have an expectation from our visitors to take responsibility for their own hygiene. Visitors must sanitise their hands and make the most of the cleaning products available to support each other in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
What are the ice sessions?
We are open for Public Skating, Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, Private Skating Lessons, Learn to Skate Courses, Private Hires and Parties Monday to Friday 6.00am – 10.00pm, Saturday 6.30am – 7.00pm & Sundays 6.45am – 6.00pm.

How do I book a session on the ice?
From 19th July, for Public Skating sessions, all you need to do is turn up and pay at our reception. For Figure Skating, Private Lessons, Learn to Skate Courses, Private Hires and Parties, you need to book and pay in advance.
All session capacities are operating at a Covid reduced capacity . For bookable sessions/activities visit the centre’s Main Reception or contact them on 01642 551381.
Admission to the Ice Arena will not be permitted if you do not have a ticket/receipt for your session – so please retain your ticket for admission and to obtain Skate Hire.
I am under 16, can I skate by myself?
From Monday 19th July, children aged 10-16 can once again skate without an adult present.
How many children can I bring with me?
The supervision ratio of adults to juniors is still 1 adult: 3 juniors maximum.
What will the prices be for the sessions?

Does my Tees Active Discount Card/Sk8 Saver Card apply for discounts?
Yes – if you have one. Please check with a member of the Reception team that your details we hold are correct and we have an up to date email address for you as well – once you have done this you can use your cards and continue to make savings.
Do I need any PPE to visit the Ice Arena?
As of Monday 19th July, in line with Government guidance, the wearing of a face covering is optional. Please be mindful of others in close proximity and respect their choice to wear a face covering. For more information on the wearing of face coverings, please speak to a member of the Ice Team.
We recommend bringing a spare pair of gloves and socks with you. Don’t worry if you haven’t got any gloves or socks – these will be available from reception for a nominal fee.
Where can I leave my belongings when on the ice?
Lockers are available for the storage of personal effects and will be sanitised after every use.
At the end of your session you are to collect your personal belongings and leave the centre immediately – no congregating in the Ice Arena or the centre.
Can I spectate in the Ice Arena?
From 19th July we are allowing adults (and siblings, if accompanied by an adult) into the Ice Arena to spectate a paying junior for the sessions. Spectators will only be allowed on the ground floor near the Skate Hire/Return and the seating areas. The balcony will remain closed at all times.
This is applicable for private lessons and public sessions.
How old do I need to be to skate?
Ice skating is perfect for any age. It’s great for tiny tots or speed skating grannies! Don’t forget, under 3’s skate for free.
What if I can't skate but want to come and try?
We have friendly stability penguins and snowmen available for hire for young ones to help them gain their confidence. These are sanitised after every use, so they are clean and safe to use for the next person. Penguin and snowmen hires are £3.00 for 30 minutes.
Will I be able to hire skates and how do I know they are they clean?
We strongly recommend if you have your own skates that you bring them. If not, we have ample pairs of skates ranging from baby size 5 up to adult size 14 – as well as twin bladed toboggans for toddlers. Skates will be sanitised before and after use to ensure we provide safe and hygienic equipment for you.
Can I skate in my wheelchair?
Yes – as long as you comply with our COVID-19 procedures.
Can I book the Ice Arena privately?
From 19th July, we are able to provide private hires of the Ice Arena – if you would like to speak to a member of staff for a future hire, please email the centre at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
Will the café be open?
We do not have a return date for the café yet, however we have a range of hot and cold drinks and snack vend machines available for use on the day. Customers will be required to use hand sanitising gel before and after using the vending machines, which will be located near to the vending machines in the Ice Arena and Atrium.
Can I come figure skating?
Casual Figure Skating sessions have returned to the centre. For details on these sessions, please speak to our team on 01642 551381 or please click here to view the timetable.
Please note – minimum entry for these sessions is Skate UK/TAL Skate Certificate Level 5.
Are private skating lessons on?
We are pleased to say that Private Skating Lessons are taking place in their own identified sessions, but they must be booked and paid for in advance.
All Private Lesson skaters are to arrive at the centre skate ready and bring minimal personal belongings which must be stored in a single bag – with blade guards on to walk through the centre.
To book your Private Lesson, speak to your coach to check their availability first and book and pay for your lesson by either visiting the centre’s Main Reception or by contacting them on 01642 551381.
Please note that once a booking has been made and paid for refunds will not be available.
If you want to book a Private Lesson and don’t have an Instructor, please email IceArena@teesactive.co.uk with your name and phone number, requesting an Ice Professional and we will pass your details on for one of our resident instructors to contact you.
How long are private lessons?
Private Lessons can be booked in 15 & 30 minute durations.
Will there be many on the ice with me?
We have reduced the capacity of skaters on the ice for all sessions for the safety of our customers and staff.
Are toilet and changing facilities available?
From 19th July all toilet facilities in the Ice Arena are available but only accessible in compliance with our Covid-19 procedures. The toilets will be regularly cleaned throughout the day in line with our Covid-19 procedures.
There are no changing facilities available during Public skate sessions. We ask that Figure Skaters arrive at the arena ready to skate. Change facilities are now available for Ice Hockey practices.
Are there any visitor rules and policies?
We want to ensure you and your fellow skaters visit is a safe and enjoyable one, so we ask that you read the following rules:
1. For comfort and safety wear warm, suitable clothing that allows natural body movement and gloves
2. Before stepping on the ice, please check your skates are fastened properly and any excess lace is tucked inside the boot and that blade guards are removed.
3. Skaters must always skate anti-clockwise around the rink.
4. Keep to the outside of the rink if you are a beginner.
5. Listen and abide by the instructions issued by the Ice Arena Team.
6. Watch where you are going – stay alert to your surroundings and other skaters.
7. Look behind you before you stop/when practicing backward moves.
8. Don’t skate at excessive speeds.
9. Don’t skate in chains of three or more people.
10. Don’t carry anyone on the ice.
11. Don’t sit on or climb over the barrier or hang off the glass barrier.
12. Don’t chip, spray or throw ice.
13. Don’t eat or drink on the ice.
14. Don’t drop litter on the ice.
15. Don’t listen to music through personal head/ear phones when on the ice rink.
16. Don’t use mobile phones, cameras/video recorders on the ice rink.
17. Keep off the ice when it is being resurfaced.
18. Don’t run around the ice rink/circulation areas.
19. Don’t play tag games in the Ice Arena.
20. Children under the age of 5 years of age must be accompanied on the ice rink at all times by an adult (aged over 16 years of age).
21. Children under 10 years of age should be supervised by an adult (aged over 16 years of age) at all times. This includes attendance at casual and coached sessions, but excludes Childcare Services.
22. After 8.00pm, children under the age of 12 will not be allowed entry into the facility unless accompanied by an adult (aged over 16 years of age).
Will things change in the future?
We will be continuously working closely with Governing bodies and reviewing our operations to make sure everything is as safe as it can be for our visitors and staff. We will notify you of any changes that are being made once the decision has been made.
